Halloween treat table

Happy Halloween!! On Saturday night we celebrated my daughter's 11th Birthday with a Halloween party. I had so much fun putting together the treat table for her friends and our family.

I turned the table's feet into witches feet.

I used the Happy Haunting paper collection from Best Creation along with a few dies from Cheery Lynn Designs for a lot of my paper decorations.

The popcorn cones needed a place to stand so I painted this old shoebox black and added a few simple decorations to it. I poked holes on the box for each one of the cones to stand in.

The cake pops were a big hit. They are so yummy!! This container was a large piece of styrofoam. I cover it up with paper and poked the pops in.

I made another mummy cake just for the event. He was made with red velvet cake and cream cheese frosting with a lime green Bavarian cream filling.

Since there were so many cake treats on the table I made these little monsters cupcakes in a smaller size.

The kids ate mummy dogs (not pictured) while the adults enjoyed homemade chili in pumpkin bread bowls. Yum!

Have a great night tonight and be safe!!

It's Halloween Week...

...at the bakery. Halloween is our busiest holiday and I love it! Its a time where I can truly be as creative as I want...not to mention as monsterous as I want. ;)

Here are a few 3Dimensional cakes that I'd like to share.

I chose to make my realistic pumpkin groovs a bit twisted. I started out using just plain buttercream icing and then I sprayed the whole cake with my airbrush machine using a two-toned orange and yellow. I love the look!

Next we have a mummy. He looks like he saw a ghost...poor guy.

This is obviously not Halloween but its cute! Good ol' crabby patty!!

Decorated Cone with Birds Of A Feather

Hello! I just started playing with the November kit from Birds Of A Feather this week and can I tell you just how beautiful this kit is? I can't wait to show you!

Cones are really popular in paper crafting these days. There are so many great uses for them, ie. witches hats, party hats, treat containers, decorations, etc. I am going to show you how I made this beautiful cone for decoration...

1. The kit comes with a Bo Bunny die cut sheet. Cut it in half.

2. Using one piece on the half circle, roll it till it resembles a cone. The cut edge will be at the bottom. Adhere.

3. Decorate! Make some sort of handle at the top for hanging. I used bendable wire. I added a lot of the beautiful embellies that are in the kit like ribbon, flowers, leaves and the chipboard key. For the inside I cut strips of paper and folded them accordion style to fill up room. The Prima Bretton Vine placed inside was the perfect vocal point.

I love the way this turned out.

Have a beautiful day!

Using my BOAF scraps

Hey, kit subscribers! If you're anything like me, when you get to the last few pieces of your kit, you have several scraps leftover. I like to find new ways of using my scraps so this time I pulled out my French Flair die from Cheery Lynn Designs and got cuttin'!

I cut out several of these shapes and overlapped them. I love the one of a kind look. In the "Dictionary of Liz", when I look up the word cute, these little fellas show up. LOL!

Does the design look familiar? I used sketch sketch 135!

By the way, there is only one of these Birds Of A Feather kits left so hurry and you could get lucky!

Getting ready to Party!

This year we are having a big Halloween party to celebrate my daughter's birthday who turned 11 this month. I am really excited! I have been working on the treat table decor and I'm really getting into it.
This is the centerpiece for the table.

I used papers and elements from Best Creation's Happy Haunting collection. The doily and little bats are from Best Creation.

I made these simple invitations to the party using a bunch of leftover scraps from the Happy Haunting collection as well. They came together SUPER quick...like in half an hour. Gotta' love that!

Have a wonderful day!

The Painted Pumpkins

A few of you may remember me mentioning our vegetable garden...yes, I am very proud of it, especially being our first one.
We had about 20 pumpkins come up! They are all so cute! I picked a few of them while they were still green because I was afraid they would get mushy on the vine if I didn't. The weather has been pretty unpredictable lately.

What to do with green pumpkins....I know! Paint them!

I chose to go with a more sophisticated look so I painted them black and white. I tied several ribbons and a light blue fiber to the top to bring out the blue pearl brads that I used around the sides.

A few large spiders brought them all together. :)

Creepy, Crawly...

I have a few more Halloween cakes to share. Please don't step on these spiders!

The Mother Of All Spiders
This furry spider cake is made from 2 - 8 inch circles rounded at the top. I used a grass tip for the furriness and black licorice for the legs. I think her face is cute even if her eyes are a bit bloodshot. ;)

Halloween cake decorating

I love Halloween time!! It's especially fun as a cake decorator. I just love my job these days...in fact I brought my camera along with me to work today so I can show you what I've been up to.

There are alot of people named Ricky D. Bones buried in this cemetary! Haha!! (Its the only tombstones I have).

Cake pops, babay!! These are chocolate cake with a white chocolate shell. Super easy to make..you should try them!

And I love these little guys. They remind me of monsters that should be on Sesame Street.

Yum!

Birds Of A Feather HOP

Birds Of A Feather is celebrating their 1 Year Birthday this month so we are celebrating in style with a weekend crop and a blog hop!

If you are just now joining us, start at the Birds Of A Feather Ning BLOG and hop along with the DT and past GDT. At each stop collect a mystery word to solve the secret quote. You could win a prize pack full of Bella Blvd goodies valued at $50.00! Yaaaa!

I used the October Birds Of A Feather kit to make the following birthday projects.

I made this tag for my father in law as a gift for his birthday. It's attached to a jar of pickles...yes pickles. He loves 'em and hey,...they're homemade. I even grew the cucumbers myself!

I made the cool flame job using an assortment of Stickles from my stash and the candles are just rolled paper.

Hop on over to Amy's blog and see what she's up to! Oh, and be sure to make some time to play with us at the crop.

Here's my mystery word

The Apple Doesn't Fall Far

It really doesn't when it comes to my boys being so much like their dad. I caught this picture of the two of them on the couch between cords on their guitars. So cute!

I used the October kit from Birds Of A Feather to make this layout. The Farmhouse collection from Crate paper pretty much takes the thinking out of all of my creations this month. I love that!

I know, I know...another layout with trees. :) It was neccessary. The kit includes a strip of a brown zipper which I thought was perfect for the trunk.

September...where have you gone?

It seems like September was just yesterday...well it was (duh). But really, last month flew by so fast!
I was so upset when I realized that I had forgotten to take pictures of my kiddos on their first day of school this year. Ugh...sometimes I wonder about myself. Thankfully...so thankfully, one of my daughter's teacher took pictures of all of her new students on the first day and sent them home to their parents. Wasn't that so nice??
This is my cute little 5th grader, Sidney. She was pretty nervous on the first day so I was glad to see that she at least smiled once throughout the day.

These fabulous papers and embellies are all included in this month's kit at Birds Of A Feather
